IAPD Announces 2014 Education Circle of Champions Award Recipient Laird Plastics
Overland Park, KS October 29, 2014 — The International Association of Plastics Distribution (IAPD) has announced Laird Plastics as a 2014 Education Circle of Champions Gold Award recipient.
Laird Plastics was one of five companies selected for their commitment to continuing plastics education and sales training through IAPD’s training programs and education resources. They were recognized in a special video presentation during the opening general session of the 58th Annual IAPD Convention and Plastics Expo in Chicago, IL, on Wednesday, October 29.
The Education Circle of Champions has three award levels: Gold, Silver and Bronze. The criteria are demanding, so it is significant that four companies achieved the Gold Level and one company achieved the Silver Level, and all five companies are past award recipients. “I am proud of the investment these companies have shown in educating their employees and giving them the tools to be better in their jobs,” said IAPD Education Committee Chair Stephanie Neugebauer. “IAPD University exists to allow companies to help further the plastics industry through education and training and these companies have excelled at that.”
“The award recipients this year have gone above and beyond in their companies to prepare and train their employees on properties, benefits, applications and lifecycle of plastics and are well-deserving of this achievement,” said IAPD CEO Susan E. Avery, CAE. “I am pleased to see the value our IAPD members hold for education and training as these initiatives will not only help advance the knowledge and expertise of our member company employees but the plastics industry as a whole.”
In 2012, a new award criteria model was established in which eligible companies must meet an initial minimum qualification of a percentage of employees passing IAPD Plastics Certificate Program Level I and/or passing Excellence in Sales Certificate Program Level I. Once the minimum requirement is met, additional points can be achieved by participating in any number of training and education activities, including:
- Establishing a new company-wide training program or upgrading/replacing a current program
- Having corporate representation in at least eight IAPD education events
- Using at least three IAPD education materials in their company
The eligibility period for the 2015 Education Circle of Champions Award is open from August 1, 2014 through July 31, 2015. To see the full award application and start planning your company’s involvement in education and training today, click here.
